New Delhi: The government is thinking of making a new law, whereby, the term for personal secretaries may not be more than 5 years.

This step will be taken for those secretaries who are posted in Delhi since a long time. The secretaries will be sent back to their parent cadre after a term of 5 years.

The government is also likely to rejig the working pattern of the Planning Commission. The Finance Ministry will also participate more in the working of the Planning Commission. The power of the PC may be decreased a bit.

Meanwhile, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has favoured downsizing of the Planning Commission amid reports that Narendra Modi government is likely to dismantle or at least drastically reduce the over-arching role of the plan body.
