Railways revenue earnings up by 12.57%

New Delhi: Railways has generated a revenue of Rs 1,14,656.13 crore in the last 10 months of 2014 ( April-December) as against Rs 1, 01, 856.45 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.57 percent.

Of these, earnings from goods went up from Rs 68,776.35 crore to Rs 77,161.55 crore, showing an increase of 11.35 percent, a statement said here Wednesday.

Earnings from the passenger segment stood at Rs 31,955.07 crore as compared to Rs 27,646.13 crore, registering an increase of 15.59 percent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked were 6,256.16 million compared to 6,360.15 million, showing a decrease of 1.64 percent.
