New Delhi: A couple of pilot projects are underway in the Southern Railways through which merely an SMS will let you know your platform number or confirm your ticket booking details.
Southern Railways has launched SMS facility to know train platform number from where a particular train would depart or arrive. Passengers can get information regarding train number and boarding station by sending an SMS to 139 or through NTES mobile application.
Another pilot project to begin shortly in the Southern railways would send send SMS alerts to passengers regarding the reservation status of their tickets.
The passengers of Shatabdi Express and Rajdhani Express will receive SMS information from March 20 to 22, respectively for a period of one month.
The waitlist chart will, however not be done away with completely. It will be pasted at the main entrance of the railway stations.
