New Delhi: You might find pieces of paper, junk, bottle caps et al floating on water. But to find currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination is a rare sight. After all it does not happen everyday!

As reported by the Mumbai Mirror, Rs 1,000 denomination currency notes were noticed floating in the water near Gateway. This prompted several hawkers and passersby to try their luck.

The Mumbai Mirror, quoting a few hawkers and passersby said that many were able to take out a few thousand rupees from the scene while others had to satisfy themselves with a single currency note.

It further said that, a foreign national threw the currency notes in the water and dared everyone to grab them. The news soon spread like wildfire and everyone rushed into the spot to try their luck.

The police detained a few people who claimed to have got money but released them soon after recording their statement.
