Banks to remain close for 7-straight days; ATMs likely to run out of cash

Many associations have advised their members to complete all their bank-related works by September 29 after which the long list of holidays will start.

New Delhi: This festive season, banking sector will have a long vacation, thanks to the co-inciding dates of the list of holidays.

Owing to this long closure, banking services will affect business transactions. While the banking activities will come to a halt, ATM holders will have to suffer the most since ATMs are expected to run out of cash within two days after cash infusion.

Many associations have advised their members to complete all their bank-related works by September 29 after which the long list of holidays will start.

The prolonged holiday will be due to September 30 and October 01 being half yearly closing of banks, October 02 Gandhi Jayanti, October 03 Dusshera, October 04 Saturday and October 05 falling on a Sunday. Meanwhile Bakri Eid falls on Sunday due to which the holiday for the festival would be extended to Monday October 06.
