Mumbai: Shares of Bharti Airtel's tower unit Bharti Infratel surged nearly 3 percent today as the company has been included in the list of stocks in MSCI Global Standard Index.
The stock rose by 2.85 percent to settle at Rs 429.70 on the BSE. During the day, it was up 5.31 percent to Rs 440, its 52-week high.
At the NSE, it gained 2.91 percent to end at Rs 430.20.
The company's market value rose by Rs 2,254.27 crore to Rs 81,375.27 crore.
Bharti Infratel informed BSE on May 14 that the company has been included in the list of stocks in MSCI Global Standard Index, created by Morgan Stanley
Capital International (MSCI), that serves as benchmark of the performance in major international equity markets.
The change in the index will be effective from the close of trading on May 29, 2015, it had said.
Meanwhile, in the stock market the BSE benchmark Sensex ended at 27,645.53, down 41.77 points.
