New Delhi: The govt has decided to relook into the matter of recent appointments of public sector bank chiefs during the erstwhile UPA-2 regime, as per media reports.

This decision by the new govt comes within a few days after the arrest of the Syndicate Bank CMD.

Recent media reports also suggest that a number of irregularities have been found in the appointment of PSU bank chiefs just before the UPA-2 govt left office. Meanwhile it is learnt that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already shot letters to RBI governor Raghuram Rajan and cabinet secretary Ajit Seth to execute a detailed probe in this regard.

CBI chief Ranjit Sinha has already suggested a legal scrutiny on the appointment of public sector bank chiefs after alleged irregularities emerged during the probe into the appointment of SK Jain as the Syndicate Bank CMD.

During the probe into the Syndicate Bank scandal, it has been reportedly found that SK Jain was appointed as the CMD of the bank despite of having poor ACRs (Appraisal of Confidential Reports).

The interview process was also allegedly found to be flawed while reports of the involvement of middlemen are also doing the rounds.
