Lead futures decline on subdued spot demand

Lead prices eased by 0.78 percent to Rs 114.65 per kg in futures trade Wednesday as speculators trimmed positions on weakness in base metals overseas and subdued domestic spot demand.

New Delhi: Lead prices eased by 0.78 percent to Rs 114.65 per kg in futures trade Wednesday as speculators trimmed positions on weakness in base metals overseas and subdued domestic spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in March fell by 90 paise, or 0.78 percent, to Rs 114.65 per kg in a business turnover of 373 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April shed 80 paise, or 0.69 percent, to Rs 115.35 per kg in 24 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in lead futures was due to a subdued demand in domestic markets and a weakening trend in base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange amid signs of slowing demand growth in the US and China, world's biggest consumer of metals.
