Mumbai: Pharma shares fell by up to 3.6 percent Thursday amid reports that global brokerage firm Bank of America Merrill Lynch has downgraded some of the drug firms.
Amid heavy selling in pharma scrips, Wockhardt fell by 3.57 percent, Biocon was down 3.37 percent and Sun Pharmaceutical dipped 3.21 percent on the BSE.
Sun Pharma was the top loser among the 30-Sensex scrips.
Similarly, Lupin lost 3.19 percent, Cadila Healthcare slipped 3.17 percent and Cipla was down 2.34 percent.
Led by the dip in these stocks, the BSE healthcare index fell by 2.08 percent to settle at 18,194.76.
As per reports, Bank of America Merrill Lynch has downgraded Sun Pharma, Lupin, Cipla and Cadila Healthcare.
In the broader market, the BSE benchmark Sensex ended with a gain of 177.46 points at 28,885.21.
