Rupee recovers marginally by two paise to 68.59 against dollar

Mumbai: The rupee was marginally higher by two paise to 68.59 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters.

Besides, the dollar's weakness against some other currencies overseas supported the rupee, but a lower opening of the domestic equity market capped the gains, forex traders said.

The rupee had lost 15 paise to end at a fresh 30-month low of 68.61 in yesterday's trade on renewed demand for the American currency from banks and importers on the back of higher greenback overseas amid sustained foreign capital outflows.

The benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 113.08 points, or 0.48 percent, to 23,675.71 in early trade today.
