The benchmark BSE Sensex fell for a second straight session on Tuesday, marking their lowest closing level in nearly two months as funds and investors indulged in trimming positions amid weak cues from other Asian markets.
The 30-share barometer, which had lost 62.52 points in the previous session on October 1, plunged 296.02 points to end at 26,271.97 while the broader Nifty ended down 93.15 points to 7,852.40.
Brokers said apart from weak Asian cues, capital outflows by foreign funds and selling by retail investors ahead of earnings season beginning on Friday, dampened trading sentiments here.
