Mumbai: The BSE-benchmark Sensex jumped 253 points to regain 29,000-mark while Nifty again breached 8,800-level in opening trade on Friday.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,134.93 points, was trading at 29,085.53 points (at 9.22 a.m.) in the early session, up 155.12 points or 0.54 percent from the previous day`s close at 28,930.41 points.
The Sensex has touched a high of 29,183.76 points and a low of 29,075.92 points in the trade so far.
Good buying was observed in banking and capital goods sectors, while marginal selling pressure was seen in fast moving consumer goods sector.
