New Delhi/Mumbai: The benchmark BSE Sensex extended its slide to dive over 550 points to trade at over 14-month low on persistent foreign fund outflows on weak global cues amid caution ahead of a US Jobs report.

Sensex crashed 562.88 points to settle at 25,201.90 while Nifty tanked 167.95 points to 7,655.05.

Sentiment was also dampened on fears of poor agriculture output as monsoon deficit widened, triggering selling activity, brokers said.

The broader NSE Nifty also succumbed to all-round selling and slipped below the crucial 7,700-mark to settle the session 167.95 points or 2.15 percent down at 7,655.05.

In broader markets, small-cap and mid-cap indices closed lower by 2.47 per cent and 1.90 per cent, respectively.

Vedanta was the top Sensex loser, tumbling 4.84 percent, followed by GAIL 4.73 percent.

Among other Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei tumbled 2.15 percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 0.45 percent.

European markets were also back in the red in their opening trade and fell by 1.52 percent.
