New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' vision will change the image of the country, said the ministers of Union cabinet during the Zee Business 'Ministerial Conclave 2015'.
The Ministerial Conclave at Leela, Chanakyapuri in New Delhi was aimed at linking people’s aspirations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' initiative.
Addressing the Conclave, Essel Group Chairman Dr Subhash Chandra said that with commitment and faith the country can achieve everything.
Welcoming the Ministers at the Conclave, Dr Chandra said, “Narendra Modi government has instilled confidence among the people of this country. If everyone does their job honestly, the country will definitely progress.”
During the Ministerial Conclave 2015, the ‘Make In India Award’ Logo and also the jury who would be judging the entries, were unveiled.
Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal, Environment minister Prakash Javadekar, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo and Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha participated in a panel discussion on the subject.
The panel added that India's potential to become a manufacturing hub should be properly channelised.
Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari said, “We are working towards our objective of constructing 30 kilometre roads per day. We are giving priority to inland waterways, the target is to make 101 waterways in the country.”
Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha, during the panel discussion said, “The government is working for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. We should also focus on innovate in India.”
Emphasising that the reform process will continue, Sinha said, “The government is taking all that is required to drive away tax terrorism in the country.”
When asked to prioritise between Make in India and Make in Maharashtra, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that the development of country depends on the development of states and region. “Make in India will only be successful if every state and region is prosperous,” he added.
Replying to a question on addressing the bigger environmental concern while following 'Make in India', Environment minister Prakash Javadekar assured that the government has always laid emphasis on clean and green India.
Replying to a question on not passing on the exact benefit of slash in international crude oil prices to Indian customers, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that it is not always possible to make changes in domestic oil prices vis-a-vis international prices due to various reasons. The government has to keep fund for development projects as well.
The government is committed to give cheap energy to the people of the country, Pradhan added.
Stressing on the need to preserve India's rich cultural heritage, Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal said that there is a need to reform the education sector, however one should not forget the richness of India's culture and language.
Goyal said that the people of the country has shown immense trust in PM Modi. Indian politics has never faced such transparency in the history. We are in such a stage that we are not scared of decision making, said the Power Minister.
On being asked about continuous power supply as has been promised by the government, Goyal said that by the time India goes for general elections in 2019, every Indian will have 24x7 power supply.
Union Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo said that Indian investors across the world are ready to invest back home. Supriyo also sang a song for the audience from his first movie.
Union Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma said that reform in tourism industry will boost the sector. Security, cleanliness and hospitality will remain the prime focus of the department. He also expressed confidence that the tourism sector will add to the overall growth of the country.
In the Conclave, Zee Business Budget campaign was also launched by announcing a jury, since it is also interwoven with the Make in India theme.
Beyond the Ministerial Conclave, Zee Business will be linking people’s aspirations in the upcoming Union Budget 2015 by reaching out to people across businesses and sectors to collate and compile a wish list.
The wish list will be submitted to the Finance Ministry. Following the evaluation of the Union Budget linking it to the hits and misses, Zee Business will be undertaking “Make in India” awards to showcase the brilliance of the work already done by key players who have transformed India.
The awards will be followed by a set of televised series on the award winners to showcase good examples for others to follow.
