Tokyo: Japan`s factory production in October edged up 0.2 percent on-month, rising for the second straight month and beating market expectations, according to official data released Friday.
The latest data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry compared with a market forecast for a 0.6 percent fall, and followed a 2.9 percent rise seen in September.
"Industrial production fluctuates indecisively," said the ministry said.
Analysts cited a recovery of exports and new auto sales as well as improving shipments in the electronics sector.
"It is a positive set of data that hints at hopes for future recovery in production," SMBC Nikko Securities said in a note.
