105 year-old oldest Facebook user shares words of wisdom

Kirchmaier said that she joined the networking site at the age of 95 when her kids gave her a computer, a printer and a digital camera and turned her loose.

Washington: Edythe Kirchmaier is Facebook's oldest registered user at the age of 105.

Kirchmaier said that she joined the networking site at the age of 95 when her kids gave her a computer, a printer and a digital camera and turned her loose.

Kirchmaier is not just using the site to look at pictures of her grandchildren, she has more than 41,000 friends and is using Facebook to make the world a better place.

According to the Huffington Post, Kirchmaier said that she has always liked to help people.
Kirchmaier worked in a welfare office in Chicago during the Great Depression, where she met her husband.

The two were married for almost 70 years.

For the past 40 years, Kirchmaier has been volunteering at Direct Relief.

She said that it is a humanitarian organization that sends medical aid around the world, adding that even though it's just addressing envelopes or writing thank you notes, it's very meaningful to those who do it.

She said that doing that work really feeds her soul and its God plan to leave the world a better place.
Kirchmaier first gained attention when Facebook would not allow her to enter her birth year of 1908, a problem the site's engineers ultimately fixed.

She now uses her account to draw attention to the work of Direct Relief.
