Digital India Week conceives of 'IT enabled society': RS Prasad

Union Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday said the `Digital India Week` is not only an idea of an IT enabled service but an IT enabled society.

New Delhi: Union Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday said the `Digital India Week` is not only an idea of an IT enabled service but an IT enabled society.

"I am indeed grateful that honourable Prime Minister after his historic victory within 100 days conceived this inspirational programme designed to completely transform governance by harnessing the potential of information technology with the participation of the government, the people and the private sector," Prasad said at the launch of the mission.

"The story of digital India is not about numbers of laptop and phones, it is an idea where we conceive of not only IT enabled services but IT enabled society," he added.The minister further said that Digital India will bring about a great change and appealed to everyone to make the mission a great success.
