Washington: Search giant Google has acquired the online poll company Polar to boost its social networking site Google+.

However, the terms of the deal have still not been disclosed, reported CNET.

Google said earlier that it had 300 million `in stream` users on Google+ or people who view the main news page.

Polar has served at least half a billion polls in the past eight months. There had been around 1.1 million active voters in September, according to the founder Luke Wroblewski.

It is not yet clear what Wroblewski and his team would work on with Google+ but many other social networking sites have recently started coming up with polling features.
