New Delhi: Google has dedicated a doodle for the 115th birth anniversary of Amelia Earhart, the legendary American aviator who disappeared seventy five years ago while flying over the Pacific Ocean.
The doodle shows Amelia Earhart climbing up her Lockheed Vega 5B monoplane and her yellow scarf fluttering in the wind. The letters Google is placed in such a manner that it looks like it has been painted as original registration number of the aircraft below its wings.
Lockheed Vega 5B was the aircraft that Earhart used to become the first woman to fly across the Atlantic alone May 20–21, 1932.
Earhart was born in Kansas, USA on July 24 1987. She was the first woman to receive the US Distinguished Flying Cross for becoming the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Earhart wrote best-selling books ‘20 Hrs., 40 Min’ (1928) and ‘The Fun of It’ (1932) about her flying experiences.
In the year 1937, Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island while trying to circumnavigate the globe in a Lockheed Model 10 Electra.
The enigma of Earhart still fascinates the world.
