Mark Zuckerberg to visit India this month

Over 100 million Indians are on Facebook, with around 84 million users accessing the social networking site from their mobile devices.

New Delhi: Facebook founder and Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg will visit India this month who has also sought appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a business newspaper has said.

The Facebook chief has sought appointment between October 09 and October 10 with the PM and other senior ministers, the paper said.

Two other high-profile CEOs of American corporations-- Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Microsoft boss Satya Nadella-- are also currently in the country now, signalling positive sentiments of investment in India.

Earlier this month Zuckerberg had said that Facebook Inc is prepared to spend billions of dollars to reach its goal of bringing the Internet to everyone on the planet.

Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg had visited India in June this year.
"India is Facebook's second largest market, fastest growing market, fastest growing Internet connectivity in APAC. It is of high priority for us," Sandberg had said.

According to research firm eMarketer India, which has the highest number of Facebook users outside the US, will account for the fastest growth in people logging on to the social networking platform this year.

Over 100 million Indians are on the California- headquartered firm's platform, with around 84 million users accessing the social networking site from their mobile devices.
