Now 3D screen to spell the end for special glasses

A Japanese electronic firm has successfully developed a new 3D screen that does not require viewers to wear special glasses.

London: A Japanese electronic firm has successfully developed a new 3D screen that does not require viewers to wear special glasses.

Sharp Corp’s new LCD screen has 3D effects coupled with touch screen functions.

Users can flick from one 3D image to another by touching the screen and/or connect with a camcorder to watch videos in 3D.

The new screen is expected to find use in mobile phones, electronic dictionaries and digital cameras.

"Users can view 3D images without the need to wear special glasses, making this LCD ideal for mobile devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones, and smartphones," the Telegraph quoted a Sharp spokesman, as saying.

The mass production of the screen will start later in the year even as Sharp is in talks with potential collaborators including mobile phone manufacturers.
