Vodafone India has invested over Rs 1,050 crore in Maharashtra and Goa circle in the last fiscal to broad-base network and strengthen retail presence.

Pune: Vodafone India has invested over Rs 1,050 crore in Maharashtra and Goa circle in the last fiscal to broad-base network and strengthen retail presence.

"Pursuing an accelerated growth strategy since April 2014 Vodafone has expanded its network footprint by adding 3,000 new 3G and 2G sites across Maharashtra in the last financial year", Ashish Chandra, Business Head Maharashtra and Goa, Vodafone India, told reporters here today.

About 1.9 million new customers were added to 17.5 million subscriber base during 2014--15 in the region, he said adding that Vodafone now has 5000 plus 3G sites in Maharashtra and Goa.

"3G has shown tremendous uptake",he added.

On introduction 4G plan in India, he said trials were being carried on in various cities Chandra said adding that " You will hear about it soon".

Asked about network congestion problem, he said it was due to inadequate number of towers and the company was looking at it "seriously", seeking permission from authorities to erect more towers to ease it.
