The WhatsApp double blue tick is like you are always being watched by the Big Boss.

New Delhi: Mobile messaging service WhatsApp has come up with a new double blue tick feature that allows users to know when their texts have been delivered and read.

This can also double up as the online Big Brother for users, meaning, they will not be in a position to make an excuse to the sender for not having read the message.

The blue tick appears as soon as the person at the receiving end has read the message. Karan Juneja, a third year graduation student says, "My tech-savvy dad used to WhatsApp me when I was out late at night. I could easily lie to him that I didn't reply because I hadn't seen his message. But now he can easily find out if I was speaking the truth".

One grey tick means a message has been successfully sent, two grey ticks show it has been delivered and a blue tick means the message has been read. This could become annoying in group chats where you have been added with friends whose comments or messages you would generally like to avoid.

Shraddha Thakur, an interior designer says, "We have a group chat of our school aluminus. There are people I am not very comfortable chatting with. However when I wake up, there could be twenty-thirty messages from friends in the group. I would generally avoid chatting up. Late at night I would just send a smiley. Now I can't do so because they would be constantly judging me now and thinking I saw the messages but did not respond".

Jayanta Bora, a B-Tech student says, "It is like you are always being watched by the Big Boss. WhatsApp Blue lines are watching you constantly."

The app now also shows the exact time a text was sent. Users need to press and hold down on a particular post to know the accurate time the message was sent to them. So if you are still thinking of managing to pull an excuse, think twice.
