New Delhi: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli played a pivotal knock against the Gujarat Lions on Tuesday in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Rajkot.

Put into bat by the home captain Suresh Raina, Kohli opened the RCB innings with Chris Gayle. The destructive pair post a 122-run opening stand to the foundation for a late onslaught, which materialized with Travis Head and Kedar Yadhav playing blistering knocks.

But Kohli's knock was his best of the season so far, in three matches. Coming from an injury lay-off, the 28-year-old started the tournament with a fluent 62 against Mumbai Indians, then managed 28 against Rising Pune Supergiant.

Today, he led from the front with a brilliant, well-measured 64 off 50 balls. It was one of those innings which can be associated with captains.

Here's his knock:

The visitors defended their total, winning the match by 21 runs. It was their second win in six matches. They are now sixth in the table, with four points.
