TOSS TIME: KKR win toss, elect to bowl first

As of now take a look at the PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Welcome to our live blog for match number 37 as KKR fly south to face defending champions. Well there was a bit of lightning there at Hyderabad a few minutes back, but the covers are off now.

Preview

It's rightly dubbed a Sunday blockbuster for cricket fans. Reasons are obvious. Both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are considered heavyweights in the Indian Premier League (IPL), each having a line-up of superstars. Besides, both the teams play fearless brand of cricket with proven match winners leading the charge for their respective teams.

It doesn't come as a surprise that four of the current top five run scorers and also the leading wicket-taker of the season will feature in this match.

Today's hosts and defending champions Sunrisers have their skipper David Warner doing what he is known for – scoring runs, freely. He has got the support from an otherwise quiet but productive Shikhar Dhawan as his opening partner. Then, there is Kane Williamson and Yuvraj Singh — both capable match winners with the bat.

All-rounder Moises Henriques is also a threat with the bat. In the bowling department, they have Bhuvneswhar Kumar – who is unrivaled, supported by a brilliant Rashid Khan – who is known for his economical spells, and Ashish Nehra – the ultimate old horse.

Table toppers Kolkata have the imperious Gautam Gambhir opening, followed by an ever consistent Robin Uthappa; then they have a series of batsman capable of winning matches by their own. They have even utilised Sunil Narine as a make-shift opener to great effect.

The presence of Manish Pandey and all-rounders Yusuf Pathan, Colin de Grandhomme and Chris Woakes make the team one to beat. In the bowling department, the two-time champions are well served by the presence of an all-round attack consisting of Narine, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, etc.

It's the Knight Riders from Kolkata who have dominated this fixture, with seven wins in their 10 meetings so far. In the first leg of the 2017 season, KKR defended 172 to win by 17 runs at Eden Gardens. It witnessed Uthappa scoring 68 off 39 balls with five fours and four sixes. Bhuvi took three wickets, conceding 20 runs in four overs' spell for SRH.

In response, the visitors could managed only 155 despite cameos from Warner, Dhawan and Yuvraj. KKR spinner Narine and Kuldeep were exceptional that day.

But still, it's an open game. SRH are the only team yet to lose a home game this season; then again, KKR are the only team to win three away games so far. And there are individual match-ups too, like the ones between Bhuvi vs Gambhir and Uthappa, Umesh Yadav vs Warner, Narine vs Dhawan etc. Such intriguing stats.
