IPL 2017: MS Dhoni's fans hit out at Harsh Goenka for taking indirect dig at former Indian skipper

New Delhi: Soon after Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) registered a four-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, RPS' co-owner Harsh Goenka took another indirect dig at former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Goenka, who was previously trolled by cricket for criticising Dhoni's form, took to Twitter to write,  "Great thing about #RPS - a new hero every game -Tripathi, Stokes, Smith, Tahir. Peaking at the right time."

The tweet came after Rahul, the opener who has been in superb form for Pune, played a sensational 93-run knock off just 52 balls to guide Pune to their third consecutive win in the tournament.

Rahul, who plays for Maharashtra, has had a great season where he has scored 352 runs at a strike rate of 155.06. Along with Mumbai Indians' Nitish Rana, he is certainly one the most impressive uncapped players in the tournament.

Stokes, Smith and Tahir have all produced match-winning performances for the team.

While Goenka was right in mentioning the contribution of the four players, he once again didn't mention Dhoni, who had not long ago single-handedly pulled off a chase against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. In that match, RPS needed 47 runs to win off the last 18 balls. Dhoni once again held his nerves and remained unbeaten on 61 off just 34 balls, proving a point that he still was one of the best finishers in the game.

Dhoni's fans were clearly not happy with Goenka's tweet, and hit out at him for ignoring the former Indian skipper. Here are some of the reactions:

Dhoni, under whose captaincy RPS finished second from bottom last year, was removed as the Pune skipper ahead of tenth season.
