New Delhi: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli on Saturday ate the humble pie, and admitted that they are no longer in the IPL playoffs race.
RCB, who lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in last year's final, entered the 2017 edition of world's premier T20 tournament as one of the favourites. But the Bengaluru-based franchise bowed with indignation, losing seven of the 10 games played so far, with their latest set-back coming in Pune today.
"I think it's for everyone to see we lost that game. It's hard for a captain to stand here and speak after a performance like this," he said.
Kohli, 28, tried everything in his capacity to resurrect the team's fortunes against the Steve Smith-led Rising Pune Supergiant, but ended up losing the match by 61 runs. Kohli's 55 was the lone score in double figures in RCB batting line-up.

Talking about the team's indifferent form, Kohli said that he can't pinpoint, but stated the obvious that they are out of the play-off contention.
"Can't really pinpoint something - could be hesitation to get out, to get runs. We are pretty much not in the race for the Playoffs, all we can do is enjoy the four remaining games," he rued.
After 10 matches, RCB are with five points thanks to two wins and a rain-abandoned match. They now lie seventh in the eight-team tournament, above Delhi Daredevils. But the Delhi-based team has three games in hand.
