It is Gautam Bhaiya, who had seen me playing during the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, and showed confidence in my game. I credit my comeback in the IPL to him."

Like most other upcoming Ranchi cricketers, he too draws his inspiration from 'Mahi Bhai' (Mahendra Singh Dhoni). Speaking about the former skipper, whom Ishank refers to as 'legend', he said, "I have always played with an objective to finish or win the game, while Dhoni taught me to think from point of view of a finisher. He has taught me to have an attitude to finish the game, and not to give up till the last moment, which I’ll try to execute it for Kolkata this season."
