New Delhi: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) opener Hashim Amla on Sunday hit a 59-ball hundred, his second of the IPL 2017 season, to prove he can flourish in the frenetic world of T20 cricket.
His 60-ball knock was replete of classic shots and impoverished strokes. The 34-year-old hit five sixes and eight fours.
But one shot stood out. In the 17th over, he premeditated to play an outlandish scoop shot, akin to the one Tillakaratne Dilshan used to play, but only with better deft touch.
Basil Thampi produced a low-full toss outside off, but Amla shuffled his stand, stood near the marked wide line and scooped the ball with such delicate touch.

The ball beat the short third man to the boundary rope for a four. For the record, Amla tried a similar shot against the same bowler in the 15th over, but failed to make the most out of it.
