New Delhi: Ishan Kishan, regarded as one of the big things in Indian cricket, played a scintillating innings in the Gujarat Lions' last of the IPL 2017 at Kanpur's Green Park on Saturday.

The former India U-19 captain, opening for the already ousted Lions, stitched a 111-run opening stand with Dwayne Smith and the duo toyed with Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack.

In the process, the Patna lad became the third youngest player to hit an IPL fifty, after Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant. Kishan reached fifty off with a six off the second ball of the ninth over, bowled by fellow teenager Rashid Khan.

What's special about that six was, it came off one hand only, as Kishan got other hand off the shot while completing the swing. And it seemed to have stunned Sunrisers captain David Warner, who himself is known for hitting such audacious shots.

Despite that huge opening stand, the home side failed to post a big total, with remaining batsmen adding only 43 runs in their total.

The Lions have lost nine matches in their 13 games, and hoping to end the campaign with a win today.
