Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2020 Match 7: As it happened

Opener Prithvi Shaw smashed a half-century before the Delhi Capitals bowlers came to the fore to help their side thrash Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs in their second match of the 2020 Indian Premier League  (IPL) at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.

Opener Prithvi Shaw smashed a half-century before the Delhi Capitals bowlers came to the fore to help their side thrash Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs in their second match of the 2020 Indian Premier League  (IPL) at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday. 

Asked to bat first by the CSK, openers Prithvi Shaw (64) and Shikhar Dhawan (35) provided a perfect start to the Delhi Capitals by stitching a 94-run stand before Rishabh Pant (unbeaten at 37) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (26) helped their side post the score of 175 for three.(Also See: IPL 2020 Match 7, CSK vs DC--In Pics)

In reply, CSK lost both their openers Murali Vijay and Shane Watson cheaply for 10 and 14, respectively inside the Powerplay.

Though Faf du Plessis and Kedhar Jadhav tried to steady CSK's innings with crucial knocks of 43 and 26, respectively, CSK were restricted to a score of 131 for seven in their stipulated 20 overs.

Du Plessis (33) punched the second ball of the 13th over from Amit Mishra at point for four runs before Kedar Jadhav (20) hammered Avesh Khan on the first and third ball of the 14th over for boundaries. CSK 84/3 (14 overs)

Anrich Nortje bowled a good third over, conceding just a single, before Avesh Khan gave away 12 runs to Chennai Super Kings.Avesh's first delivery of the over ran off the inside half of Watson's bat to beat mid-on for a boundary.The Australian then sent the fifth ball of the over high towards wide mid-on for a maximum.
