Pune: Premier Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin added yet another feather to his cap when he dismissed Australia's Mitchell Starc on Day 2 of the first Test match being played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Starc's wicket was Ashwin's 64th scalp in India's home season with which he left behind former World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev, who had claimed 63 wickets in 1979-80.

On Day 1, Ashwin claimed two big wickets of skipper Steve Smith (27) and Matthew Renshaw (68).

Resuming play at 256/9, Australia added five more runs to their tally after Starc hit Ashwin for a boundary over past long-on. But Ashwin had the last laugh when Starc attempted a slog-sweep, which went straight to the fielder at deep midwicket.
