India's tour of West Indies: Youngsters to watch out for

1/5

Shardul Thakur

The 24-year-old pacer is expected to make his debut during the tough tour of West Indies. The Maharashtra bowler has been performing exceptionally well at the domestic level for years. And that's the reason he managed to find a place in the national team for this crucial tour. He can generate decent pace and has the ability to swing the ball away from the right-handers. It would be a golden opportunity for him to impress everyone on his maiden tour.

2/5

KL Rahul

He has played mere five Tests for India thus far, but the top-order batsman has impressed everyone with his temperament and technique, which could help him excel in the longest format of the game. The 24-year-old has already scored two Test tons. Despite all this, if he needs to cement his place in the side, he should cash in on every single chance coming his way. Series against the West Indians could turn out to be a career changing tour for the young lad.

3/5

Roston Chase

The uncapped middle-order batsman is a surprise inclusion in the team. He could turn out to be a handy all-rounder for the team with his effective off spin. He had enjoyed a good run in West Indies' regional first-class tournament in 2015-16 and finished fourth among the leading run scorers with 710 runs at an average of 59.16 for Barbados.

4/5

Rajendra Chandrika

Though, 26, the top-order batsman has hardly played for his country. Interestingly, even after having a poor series against Australia last year, selectors retained him for the first Test against India. If he is to find a place in the playing XI for the opening Test, which is scheduled to start from July 21 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, he has to win the trust of the selectors by playing a crucial knock at the top.

5/5

Shane Dowrich

Pressure would be on him to prove the selectors right as he replaced veteran wicket-keeper batsman Denesh Ramdin for the all important tour. He had scored heavily in first-class cricket over the last two years averaging 50 and that's the only reason he was selected over a well established player. It's a golden opportunity for him to cement his place in the side and become the number one choice wicket-keeper.
