Despite having retired from international cricket two years ago, former India captain MS Dhoni continues to enjoy immense popularity. Recently, he gained attention on Twitter when a user shared a video of Dhoni being offered chocolates and dry fruits by an air hostess on an IndiGo flight. Accompanied by his wife Sakshi and their daughter, Dhoni graciously accepted a pack of dates while politely declining the other items.

Dhoni can be seen playing Candy Crush game on his iPad while Twitterati even applauded CSK captain for picking up just a packet of dates from the gifts. Dhoni is someone who takes his fitness routine very seriously and thus he refused to take Cholcatles.

Interestingly, on the same day, India celebrated the 40th anniversary of its World Cup victory in 1983, led by the legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev. Former India batter and current National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman tweeted, "25th June, 1983 - 40 years since that landmark day when Kapil Paaji and his boys won India the World Cup. It inspired an entire generation of youth to take up cricket and was an instrumental moment in making cricket what it is in India."

In 2011, under Dhoni's captaincy, Team India won their second World Cup title. Despite facing a knee problem during this year's IPL season, Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth title. After the IPL victory, Dhoni mentioned that it would have been the ideal time to announce his retirement, but he promised to return for "at least" one more season if his body allowed, as a gesture to his fans. Subsequently, he underwent knee surgery to address the issue.

Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, recently revealed that Dhoni's knee injury was a challenge for him but he never complained about it to anyone. Dhoni didn't miss a single match during CSK's triumph in IPL 2023. He underwent knee surgery earlier this month to overcome the problem.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Viswanathan mentioned, "We never asked him things like 'do you want to play or do you want to sit out?' If he can't, he would've told us straightaway. We knew it was a struggle for him to play, but his commitment to the team, his leadership, and how the team benefits everyone knows. From that perspective, you have to appreciate him."
