Hobart: South Africa were in a commanding position against hosts Australia on Day 3 of the second Test being played at Bellerive Oval.

After skittling Aussies out for just 85 runs, South Africa posted 326 runs in reply, taking a healthy 241-run lead.

Faf du Plessis and his men got off to a brilliant start, even in the second innings as Kyle Abbott dismissed Joe Burns in the first over. Post Burns' dismissal, David Warner and Usman Khawaja resurrected the innings with a firm partnership for the second wicket.

Abbott, who replaced injured Dale Steyn for the 2nd Test, created another opportunity when he produced an edge off David Warner's bat in the 13th over of the innings. The swashbuckling left-hander chased down a wide ball, the edge flew towards the slip cordon and sailed over Dean Elgar, who surprisingly ducked under it, much to the disbelief of his team-mates.
