New Delhi: The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI (Wholesale Price Index ) for August 2019, remained unchanged at 1.08% compared to July 2019 and 4.62 percent during the corresponding month of the previous year, official data showed on Monday.
The index for Food Articles group rose by 1.4 percent to 155.9 (provisional) from 153.7 (provisional) for the previous month. The index for Non-Food Articles group rose by 0.9 percent to 129.9 (provisional) from 128.8 (provisional) for the previous month while that of Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas group rose by 1.4 percent to 88.1 (provisional) from 86.9 (provisional) for the previous month due to higher price of natural gas (3 percent) and crude petroleum (1 percent), data further showed.
The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index consisting of ‘Food Articles’ from Primary Articles group and ‘Food Product’ from Manufactured Products group increased from 4.54 percent in July, 2019 to 5.75 percent in August, 2019.
