New Delhi: In a move to promote cashless transaction or e-payment, the government on Thursday announced discount on an array of services including discount on petrol and diesel.

Digital mode used for buying petrol and diesel will get a 0.75 percent discount, Jaitley said while addressing the press.

The date for rolling out the scheme will be notified shortly, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley informed.

Addressing the press as the demonetisation move by the government completed a month, Jaitley also informed that on a daily basis, about 4.5 crore consumers buy petrol and diesel worth Rs 1,800 crore.

Due to this, digital payments have doubled to 40 percent, Jaitley added.
