New Delhi: Radio jockeys may have to keep a hard check on who they joke about on air now. The Government of India has reportedly decided to take action against all private FM channels who air jokes about MPs.

A leading news channel reported that strict action may be taken against those radio channels whose jockeys take to mimicking Members of Parliament.

Politicians like Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Arvind Kejriwal have all been at the receiving end of mimicry jokes on the radio. Now it seems that radio channels will have to keep an eye on what content goes on air.

Jaya Bachchan had raised the question of mimicry in the parliament saying that the language used by the RJs is extremely objectionable. The information and Broadcast minister Prakash Javadekar has stated that the matter will be taken under serious consideration.

Recently, the Government had indicated that it may allow private FM channels to air news, which was earlier done only by All India Radio.
