Los Angeles: Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix's documentary, "Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church", will debut on Showtime on September 4.

The documentary, which chronicles Hendrix's Atlanta International Pop Festival performance on Independence Day 1970, will be preceded by "Freedom: Atlanta Pop Festival" live album, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The DVD/Blu-Ray release of the film will be on October 30 with bonus footage which will not be in the televised version.

The documentary also includes interviews with Hendrix's bandmates Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, along with Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Kirk Hammett, Derek Trucks, and Susan Tedeschi.

The festival marked the largest American audience Hendrix ever performed in front of, an estimated 300,000 people, who witnessed the rock great play in Byron, Georgia, 100 miles south of Atlanta.

The most recent posthumous Hendrix live album was 2013's "Miami Pop Festival", which catalogued the star's May 18, 1968 concert.
