Sand dune activities, live performances, concerts featuring Bollywood stars combined with a fare of Rajasthani cuisine await the New Year festivities in the state of Rajasthan.

Jaisalmer/Jaipur: Sand dune activities, live performances, concerts featuring Bollywood stars combined with a fare of Rajasthani cuisine await the New Year festivities in the state of Rajasthan.

"All the rooms have been occupied and special arrangements have been made for the New Year celebration tomorrow," Chhatrapal Singh, General Manager, Hotel Gorband Palace, Jaisalmer said.

"Food will be served in special tents on san dunes where arrangements for Rajasthan folk music and other entertainment will be there," owner of desert spring Mayank Bhatiya said.

He said that Rajasthani cuisine remains in demand but arrangement for continental food has also also been made. The party organisers, who are busy attracting people, particularly youths to the celebrations both within the city and in its outskirts, are also planning to rope in Bollywood names this time.

"We have planned a Bollywood night in Jaipur in which Sana Khan and Bollywood singer-composer Sharib-Toshi will give their performances at hotel Clarks Amber on December 31," Asim Singh,a party organiser told PTI.

He claimed that it was the only party in Jaipur which is filled with Bollywood personalities. Performance by Russian dancers will be the highlight of a party in hotel Country Inn.

The organiser Chiragdeep Singh said that a gathering of 500-600 people is expected at the event. The New Year party this time is going beyond clubs and hotels, with many of them being planned at farm houses and other places in the outskirts of the city to keep traffic at bay.

"Apart from indoor and rooftop celebrations, demands for parties in outskirts is also high. Many locations have already been engaged and I am also searching for one so the party can be arranged," Udit, another event organiser says.

The organisers are charging from Rs 1500 to 8,000 for the party. Unlimited liquor, open air candle light dinner, special prizes, pick up and drop facility are some of the other highlights of the scheduled events.

While most of the celebrations are in the form of parties and with different themes, some have also offered events having no loud music or liquor and providing a wholesome entertainment in family ambiance.

"There was demand for celebration in family ambiance so we have planned a sober event with no loud music and liquor. Wholesome entertainment with good food is on offer. Artists would give light music performance and sing ghazals. There will also be competitions and games for children," Arun Goyal, owner of hotel midtown said, adding that he is also focusing on foreign tourists.

On the other hand, elaborated security and traffic arrangement will be in place on the new year eve.

"Separate teams will be formed to check traffic rule violations and the focus will be on checking drunken drivers on the new year eve," DCP Traffic Haidar Ali Zaidi said.
