Mumbai: Vivek Rangachari, the producer of highly acclaimed `Lunchbox`, says his next will be a remake of Tamil hit `Chennai 600028`, which was about street cricket.
He has tentatively titled the Hindi version `Kirkit`, which will be made under his banner DAR Motion Pictures.
"Yes, we are remaking a Tamil film `Chennai 28` in Hindi. The film has gully cricket as the backdrop. It`s a very youth-centric film and the film is tentatively titled `Kirkit`," he said and added that the Hindi version will be made in a way that it would appeal to the audience.
Rangachari said director Bejoy Nambiar has teamed up with him to co-produce the movie.
"Bejoy is co-producing the film with us and it will be directed by Yazad, who worked as an assistant director with Bejoy in `David`," he said.
Released in 2007, `Chennai 600028`, which was written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, did great business at the southern box office.
"The film will have a bunch of newcomers. We shot a few portions during `Dahi Handi` as we needed those scenes for the film. Now, from the fourth week of September, the next schedule will start," he added.
