Keen to star in Asian films: `Hangover` actor

Panaji: Thai actor Vithaya Pansringarm, who has starred in films like `Hangover II`, `Only God Forgives`, expressed his desire to work in Asia which is closer to his home and people.

Pansringarm`s film `Only God Forgives`, in which he shares screen space with Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling, was screened at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here.

"People ask me why Hollywood? Hollywood just happened. I am very keen to work in Asia itself nearby to my home people," said the Thai actor.

Pansringarm said that his film `Only God Forgives`, a Danish-French-Thai co-production crime thriller written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, has been received well all over the world.

"I feel as if I have taken a rebirth. The first 50 years of my life I was a successful businessman with a beautiful family. Acting suddenly happened to me at the age of 50. Many people who reach this age take care of their grandchildren etc., but for me, I just got another job which I love," he said.

The Thai actor also said that he was doing another film called `The Last Executioner` in his homeland.

"It is based on a memoir written by Chavoret Jaruboon, a man who executed 55 prisoners," he said.

When asked how he feels about being a Thai actor travelling overseas, Pansringarm said, "I think as a Thai actor sharing the screen space with Ryan Gosling and many renowned names was lovely."

Pansringarm also said that Thailand over the past decades was a good spot for Indians to produce their movies.

"Also, many Bollywood movies play with sub-titles and DVD?s are also available (in Thailand)," he said.
