New Delhi: "Shamitabh" actress Akshara Haasan looked like a fairytale bride in a pink lehenga choli as she turned showstopper today for ace designer Rina Dhaka at the day three of the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week (IBFW).
The 23-year-old star's fragility and innocence beautifully complemented the heavily sequined outfit.
"The experience of walking the ramp was lovely. This is my second time on the ramp and walking in something so beautiful is amazing. Rina told me to be calm," Akshara told reporters after the show.
The designer, who presented her floral collection at the five-day event, could not stop gushing about the actress and said she is as beautiful as her mother Sagarika.
"My lovely showstopper must be of my son's age. I met her mother when she was an actor, that was long ago. I am so happy that her daughter is as beautiful as her and also very graceful, well-mannered and well brought up girl," Dhaka said.
Describing Akshara's lehenga-choli, which weighed not more than a kilogram, the designer said, "First we developed lace, then created sequins, some of the crystals were created by Swarovski to bring out the mood of the leaves and the petals and then the 3D effect we have in her top, lace, cut work, putting in silk chiffon flowers."
The designer said her collection was all about romance with a dose of flora and fauna.
The highlight of her line were the dimensional popping flowers and actual petals.
"The look is essentially light-weighed, pretty, feminine and girly," Dhaka said.
The designer said it was a kind of a fruity collection. She developed special motifs for the line. Keeping in tune with the floral collection, the designer stuck to colours like lilacs, pinks with a hint of gold as well to give it a bridal appeal.
Her outfits have embroideries from Lucknow and Austrian crystals and she has used traditional elements and given it a modern twist.
Silhouettes included sarees, skirts, gowns, lehengas adorned with floral motifs. The designer made befitting use of flowers in the form of jewelry and headgears.
"The headgear was the fun part. Head, neck, the flowers we created using ferns and petals," said Dhaka, who took three months to prepare the collection.
Fabrics used are tulles, silks, chiffon and laame.
