Mumbai, April 04: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s unbuttoning act in the Lakme Fashion Week has drawn cheers and boos in equal numbers. The sexy stunt has now led to an obscenity case against the actor, his wife Twinkle and LFW organisers for their alleged crude act in public during the fashion show here.
On the second last day of Lakme Fasion Week, Aklshay had walked the ramp for designer Tarun Tahiliani. Dressed in a Tahiliani ensemble ‘Levi’s’, Akshay was to be unbuttoned by a model on the ramp. However, on the spur of the moment, Akki walked up to his wife sitting on the front row, and made her unbutton him.
The sexy stunt was hailed with cheers on the show, but it also shocked onlookers.
A police officer at Vakola police station informed, “On inquiry, we found Akshay Kumar guilty (of committing the obscene act). We have registered a case against Akshay, Twinkle and the organisers of Lakme Fashion Week.”
“The case has been registered against them under IPC Sec 294 (obscene acts and songs) tonight,” the officer added.
Later, a Mumbai-based social activist Anil Nair filed a written complaint against the trio following which police initiated an inquiry on whether to lodge a complaint against them.
Satisfied with police action, Anil Nair said he knew law would take its own course. Akshay has already apologised if his action has hurt the sentiments of anyone.
“I have full faith in Mumbai police and I knew that they will take cognizance of my complaint and will initiate appropriate action,” Nair said.
“Akshay is a role model (for youths) and was also honoured with Padma Shree award recently. The actor should not have done the unbuttoning act in public. If we don`t stop such acts, tomorrow others will emulate it,” Nair added.
Meanwhile, noted criminal lawyer Sayaji Nangre said, “Akshay Kumar will be arrested in due course. However, he can even get a bail immediately as it is a bailable offence.”
However, Akki has snubbed all such objections justifying that he did not get it done by any model and ‘there is nothing wrong in getting unzipped by your own wife’.
Though Indian society is celeb-crazy, this kind of sexy PDA is still hard to digest!
