Andhra Pradesh stampede: Ram Gopal Varma comes out in support of CM Naidu, blames God for tragedy

New Delhi: Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma has waded into controversy again while reacting to the stampede incident at Andhra Pradesh's Godavari Maha Pushkaram festival.

In what can ruffle a few feathers, RGV took to Twitter and said, "If God himself couldn't save his own devotees what can poor Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu do? ".

From the series of tweets that he posted on social media site, it can be said that he has blamed God for the unfortunate incident that happened few days back.

In a tragic incident on the opening day of 'Pushkaram' festival, at least 27 pilgrims, 13 of them women, died and 20 others injured in a stampede at a major bathing spot in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday.

This is not the first time that filmmaker has courted trouble on his controversial statements.

Last year on Ganesh Chaturthi, he had said on Twitter, “The guy who couldn't save his own head from being cut , how he will save others heads is my question? But Happy Ganpathi day to morons!”(sic.).
