Mumbai: The festival of Ganapati, celebrating the birth of Ganesh is drawing to a close. The devotees of the Lord are now preparing to bit adieu to Him and requesting him to take away all our worries and obstacles away.
Bollywood celebrities were seen cheering their Ganapati's for the send off ritual.
Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen praying to Lalbaug Cha Raja.
Superstar Hrithik Roshan was seen carrying his Ganesh idol for immersion, as were Amisha Patel, Sonali Bendre and Goldie Behl. Shilpa Shetty was also seen in a beautiful saree participating in the celebrations.
In the Visarjan ceremony, after the presiding deity, Lord Ganesh, departs from the murti, the murti is returned to nature, only to be reanimated the following year.
Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in Maharashtra. Millions of people in the city participate in the festival and there are collective puja ceremonies that are held across the state. Mumbai has one of the most glittering celebrations. Every year thousands of devotees from across the country come to Mumbai to share the joyous festival.
