New Delhi: The trial in Bollywood actor Salman Khan's infamous 2002 hit-and-run case will start again from September 24, 2014. The first hearing was held today, after the missing documents carrying statements by witnesses were found. The documents were produced before sessions judge D W Deshpande during the hearing in Mumbai.
After the newly-appointed public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat produced the documents before the court, the judge took it on record and asked the prosecution to proceed with the examination of witnesses from September 24.
The important documents that went missing were found in the last week of August this year at the Bandra police station itself. The documents reportedly contain important information related to the case, the case diary and statements of key witnesses.
In the last hearing, the sessions court had ordered the first IO (Investigating Officer), Kishan Sanghle to be present at the court during the next hearing.
Last year, a fresh trial was ordered against the actor under 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder`, which has a maximum 10-year imprisonment. Due to fresh trial, the evidences and witnesses are being re-examined.
The 48-year-old actor is accused of driving his SUV onto a pavement in Bandra on September 28, 2002, leading to the death of one person and injuring four others.
