New Delhi: With the quantum of punishment served as 5 years for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case, the verdict has brought the entire nation to a standstill.

Speaking exclusively to Zee Media, Mumbai Police Commissioner M.N Singh  said, "This was an open and shut case. There was never a doubt in my mind that who was driving."

Salman's driver Ashok Singh, who had earlier claimed that it was him on wheels and not Salman has been taken into custody for making a false statement in the court. 

In addition to his 5 years sentencing, the actor also faces a fine of Rs 25000.
