Students need to stop protests or face expulsion: FTII Director

FTII students have been protesting the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of the institution. But now they face more dire consequences. 

New Delhi: FTII students have been protesting the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of the institution. But now they face more dire consequences. 

According to a report in Indian Express, the Director of FTII, J Narain has stated in a letter that the students need to stop the strike or face expulsion from the premiere institute. 

The strike is into its second month and the formal letter to the President of the student organisation warning of disciplinary action including rustication. 

Student council and some alumni had met with I&B Minister Arun Jaitley to resolve the issue on July 3. However, no conculsive result came out of the meeting and the strike continued. 

Many celebrities have come out in support of the students including Ranbir Kapoor, Kiran Rao, Piyush Mishra, Sayeed Mirza, Jahnu Barua, Pallavi Joshi, Resul Pookutty and Rajat Kapoor.
