New Delhi: William Shakespeare's first folio has been found in a small French town, according to an international daily. The precious first copy has been discovered in the library of Saint-Omer, where it had been safely placed for more than hundred years.

According to international media reports, a literature scholar named Remy Cordonnier found this unearthed treasure while looking for books on Anglo-Saxon authors. He reportedly was looking for such stuff to use in an exhibition on the same.

Cordonnier, who happens to be a librarian reportedly said that initially he had no idea about this 1623 copy being of such importance, but later on realised the worth of this masterpiece. The book was found in a battered condition, as it had been used by many for reading purposes, without realising its actual worth.

The treasure found by the librarian is named as 'The First Folio', by William Shakespeare. The copy is believed to contain almost all of the plays by the author.
